About Us

My name is Laura Travis and I run Perfect Pet Care. As the business develops we will have more carers joining us, but at present I do the majority of the pet care. I have been an animal enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I have had pets all my life, from ladybirds in milk bottles to cockatiels and ponies!

I have a first class honours degree in Animal Behaviour and I am currently studying a Post Graduate Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling, leading to a a Masters degree at Southampton University. I worked as a groom for many years, both for riding and driving horses and I am quite at home working with all types of equine, young or old, large or small! I am very interested in Natural Horsemanship techniques and I always deal with horses in a calm and quiet manner.

I gained invaluable experience working for a well known animal rescue charity. Carrying out canine temperament assessments was only part of my job, I also worked with dogs with behaviour problems to increase their chances of getting rehomed and I gained skills and experience working with nervous and aggressive dogs. More recently I have been lecturing in further and higher education, teaching animal care students about animal behaviour, nutrition, science and welfare.

I hold my first and second degree in reiki therapy and am hoping to eventually become a Reiki Master.

I currently have two dogs, Josie and Otter. I enjoy doing agility with them, although Josie has recently had to retire due to a double cruciate rupture which I am glad to say she is now recovering from. Otter loves his agility, he gets quite excited and I have difficulty keeping up with him, but it keeps us both fit and is lots of fun!

I have kept horses for most of my life, and I currently have two horses, Taffy and Monty. We like to do a bit of everything- hacking, jumping, local shows and I have recently started competing in dressage. I also have a cat and some goldfish, and in the past I have kept cockatiels and ducks.

When it comes to animal care and welfare I have very high standards. I look after other peoples animals as if they were my own, and because I absolutely love animals, you can be sure they will be getting lots of cuddles and fuss!!!
