Perfect Pet Care Plea !!!
When you are looking to get a new pet, please consider rehoming a rescue animal. The rescue centres in this country are overflowing with wonderful animals who need a new home, this includes pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, goats and ponies, as well as the usual cats and dogs.
Please think things through before getting a new pet. Caring for an animal is a tremendous responsibility and too many of them end up in rescue centres because their owners did not do enough research beforehand. Think about the characteristics and temperament of the animal you are interested in, not just what it looks like.
This is particularly true when rehoming a rescue animal. They may have been emotionally upset by the experience of being rehomed and will require time to settle in to their new routine. Please do not expect them to be perfect from day one and be prepared to work through any problems you may encounter. Rescue animals can make wonderful companions, they just need a bit of extra time and understanding.
And finally............please do not overlook mongrels, crossbreeds and older dogs and cats. Mongrels and crossbreeds are just as trainable, affectionate and playful as purebreeds and they make great pets. Older dogs and cats often stay in rehoming centres for longer than young ones. However, older dogs and cats will usually know the rules of the household, have basic training, and be much more sensible than their young counterparts. This means that they can settle into a home much quicker and generally be easier to live with. Please don't forget the oldies!!!
